frequently asked questions
I'm new to therapy. What can I expect?
Making the choice to start therapy can feel overwhelming, but it’s a positive step towards personal growth and well-being. We recommend starting with a free 15 minute consultation call, so that you are able to get a sense if we’re a good fit.
Therapy sessions are a safe, non-judgmental space where you can openly discuss your thoughts and feelings. Your first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know you. We’ll ask you about your background, reasons for seeking therapy, and any specific concerns you have. This is also your chance to ask questions and understand the therapy process.
Together, we will work to identify goals for your therapy. These can be specific issues you want to address or broader personal growth objectives. Depending on your needs, we might use different therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or mindfulness practices. As therapy progresses, we will check in to review your goals and progress, and make any adjustments to ensure you are getting the most out of your sessions.
How do I know if we'll be a good fit?
Finding the right therapist is crucial for a successful therapy experience. We offer our free consultation call so that you can speak with us to discuss your needs and goals, and get a sense of our style and approach. Our goal is to ensure that you feel comfortable and understood during sessions, and we welcome feedback as an opportunity to adjust our approach to better fit your needs.
Trust your instincts; if you feel a positive connection and believe that we can help you, it’s a good sign. Remember, your comfort and trust are essential for effective therapy, and we’re committed to helping you find the best fit for your journey towards well-being.
how frequently will we meet for sessions?
Therapy typically involves regular sessions, often weekly, especially at the beginning. Consistency helps build a strong therapeutic relationship and fosters progress.
are sessions confidential?
Yes, your privacy is extremely important to us, and all therapy sessions are confidential. This means that anything you discuss with in sessions will not be shared with anyone else without your explicit permission.
However, there are a few exceptions to confidentiality, including situations where there is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, suspicion of abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or dependent adult, or in response to a court order. These exceptions are in place to protect you and others. Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and private space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Do you take insurance?
We are in-network with Medicare Part B. For all other insurance policies, we are considered out-of-network. Our rate for out-of-network individual therapy is $225 per session. Please see details for out-of-network reimbursements below.
